Seedance 2.5 4K Is Locked Behind Enterprise Trials. The 480p Draft Ladder You Can Price Today
# Seedance 2.5 4K Is Locked Behind Enterprise Trials. The 480p Draft Ladder You Can Price Today

On October 23, 2026, ByteDance cloud arm Volcano Engine released Seedance 2.5 4K. Two separate outlets reported it the same day, and both say access is limited: TechNode says it is available for trials by selected enterprise customers, and ChainCatcher says the first batch is open to 20 film studios and directors worldwide. Neither report gives a price or a clip-length limit. If you make Shorts, you cannot rent it today.
**A 4K model you cannot rent is not news you can use. Price the draft, not the headline.**
The part worth stealing is the workflow TechNode describes: a Draft mode that produces 480p previews so you can test shots before paying for the 4K render. You can copy that habit now with the models ClipNovia lists. Below are the real credit prices for each resolution step, the break-even rule, and a card to fill in. This is price arithmetic from the ClipNovia estimator, not a quality test. We did not render comparison videos, so we make no claim that a 480p draft predicts the final look.
## What was announced, and what was not
| Claim | Source |
|---|---|
| Seedance 2.5 4K released October 23, 2026 by Volcano Engine, aimed at film and TV production | TechNode (2026-10-23), ChainCatcher (2026-10-23) |
| 4K final output, 480p previews in Draft mode, 10-bit color | TechNode |
| Available for trials by selected enterprise customers | TechNode |
| First batch open to 20 film studios and directors, about 20 works, earliest projects planned for satellite TV in November | ChainCatcher |
| Price, clip length, API access | Not stated in either report |
Both reports trace back to the same Volcano Engine announcement. We read the two news reports, not a Volcano Engine primary page, so treat the details as reported, not confirmed by us. Seedance 2.5 itself is not new: the standard version is already in the ClipNovia catalog, up to 30 seconds and 1080p. The new thing is the 4K tier and who can touch it.
## The resolution ladder, priced

ClipNovia estimator, queried 2026-10-24, 5-second clip, no sound:
| Model | 480p | 720p | 1080p | 4K |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2.5 | 212 | 477 | 1,196 | not offered |
| Seedance 2.0 | 144 | 311 | 772 | 1,574 |
Three things stand out.
1. **Resolution is the expensive dial.** On Seedance 2.5, a 1080p clip costs 5.6 times a 480p clip (1,196 versus 212) and 2.5 times a 720p clip (1,196 versus 477).
2. **The older model is the one with 4K.** In the ClipNovia catalog on October 24, 2026, Seedance 2.0 lists 480p to 4K while Seedance 2.5 stops at 1080p. A 4K request on Seedance 2.5 returned 477, the same as 720p, so we do not treat that as a 4K price.
3. **4K on Seedance 2.0 costs about double 1080p** (1,574 versus 772), and 10.9 times its 480p draft (1,574 versus 144).
A 10-second Seedance 2.5 clip scales the same way: 424 at 480p, 954 at 720p, 2,391 at 1080p.
## The break-even rule

**One avoided final-resolution retake pays for about 5.6 drafts on Seedance 2.5 at 1080p, and about 10.9 drafts on Seedance 2.0 at 4K.**
The formula: drafts per avoided retake = final price divided by draft price. For Seedance 2.5, 1,196 divided by 212 is 5.6. For Seedance 2.0 at 4K, 1,574 divided by 144 is 10.9.
Worked example, one 5-second shot on Seedance 2.5:
- Blind plan: render at 1080p and retake until it works. Four takes cost 4 x 1,196 = 4,784 credits.
- Draft-first plan: three 480p drafts (3 x 212 = 636) plus one 1080p final (1,196) = 1,832 credits.
That is 2,952 credits less, about 62 percent. The catch is the assumption inside the plan: it only works if a 480p draft shows you the flaw you would have found at 1080p. We did not test how well drafts predict finals. Faces, small text, and fast motion are the likely places a low-resolution draft can hide a problem, so check those at higher resolution before you commit the whole shot list.
## When drafting loses
- **The shot is one take you are sure about.** If you expect to land it first try, a draft is pure overhead. One draft plus one final costs 1,408 against 1,196 for the final alone.
- **The risk is detail, not composition.** If what can go wrong is lip movement, hands, or fine text, test one 720p clip instead of 480p.
- **You are on a model with no cheap tier.** Not every model in the catalog has a 480p option, so check the resolutions column first.
## Copy this: the draft-first card

```
Shot: [one beat, 4 to 8 seconds]
Model + final resolution: [Seedance 2.5, 1080p]
Final price (estimator): [1,196]
Draft price (480p): [212]
Drafts per avoided retake: final / draft = [5.6]
Max drafts for this shot: [3]
What the draft must settle: [composition, motion, pacing]
What it cannot settle: [faces, hands, small text -> check at 720p]
Approve rule: [one clean draft, then render final once]
```
Write each shot as a card first so a retake changes one field, not the whole idea: [One Shot Card, Three Prompt Orders](/blog/ai-video-shot-card-prompt-template). ## Frequently asked questions
**Can I use Seedance 2.5 4K today?**
Not through the sources we read. TechNode reports trials for selected enterprise customers and ChainCatcher reports a first batch of 20 film studios and directors, both on October 23, 2026. Neither mentions a public release date or price.
**Does ClipNovia offer 4K video?**
Per the model catalog on October 24, 2026, Seedance 2.0, Veo 3.1, Veo 3.1 Lite and Kling 3.0 list 4K. Seedance 2.5 lists up to 1080p.
**How much cheaper is a 480p draft?**
On Seedance 2.5, a 5-second 480p clip was 212 credits versus 1,196 at 1080p. On Seedance 2.0 it was 144 versus 1,574 at 4K.
**Does a low-resolution draft show the same result as the final?**
We did not test that. Treat a draft as a check on composition and motion, not on fine detail.
**Is Seedance 2.5 a new model?**
The standard Seedance 2.5 is already in the ClipNovia catalog. The October 23 announcement is about a 4K version for film production.
## Price your own draft ladder
ClipNovia shows the credit cost for each model, length and resolution before you run it, so you can price a draft-first plan against a blind one: [try it in ClipNovia](https://clipnovia.io/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=seedance-2-5-4k-draft-first-price-ladder).
